Applying Under Express Entry

The Express Entry Program has specific eligibility criteria that applicants must meet in order to be considered for permanent residency in Canada. These criteria include:

  1. Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of applying.

  2. Education: Applicants must have completed a minimum of secondary education, or its equivalent. A post-secondary education can provide additional points.

  3. Work Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time work experience) in a skilled occupation. The work experience must have been acquired within the past 10 years and must be classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A, or B.

  4. Skill Transferability: Applicants can gain additional points if their education and work experience are deemed to be transferable to the Canadian labor market.

  5. Language Skills: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or French by taking a language test (IELTS for English and TEF for French). Scores from the language test are used to calculate points for language proficiency.

  6. Canadian Work Experience: Applicants can earn additional points if they have previously worked in Canada for at least one year in a skilled occupation.

In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, applicants must also have no inadmissibility issues, such as a criminal record or a medical condition that may pose a risk to public health or safety.
